Kimono made of natural 100% silk:
  • Hand wash in cold water: Always hand wash silk items in cold water. Avoid using harsh detergents, and opt for a mild soap specifically designed for silk.
  • Avoid wringing or twisting: Never wring or twist silk garments to remove water. Instead, gently squeeze out excess water without twisting.
  • Use a soft towel for drying: Lay the silk item flat on a clean, dry towel. Roll up the towel gently, pressing lightly to absorb the water. Unroll and repeat with another dry towel if necessary.
  • Air dry away from direct sunlight: Hang or lay the silk item flat to air dry, but make sure it’s away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and damage to the print.
  • Iron on low heat: If ironing is necessary, use the lowest heat setting and preferably iron while the item is still slightly damp. Place a cloth between the iron and the silk to protect the fabric.
  • Store properly: Store silk items in a cool, dry place. Avoid using hangers that may stretch or distort the fabric. For printed silk, it’s also advisable to store it away from direct light to preserve the colors.
Kimono made of polyester eco-silk:
  • Machine washable: Polyester eco-silk can usually be machine washed. Use a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent.
  • Separate colors: Wash your eco-silk items with similar colors to avoid color transfer, especially for the first few washes.
  • Avoid bleach and fabric softeners: Do not use bleach or fabric softeners as they can damage the fabric and affect its appearance and feel.
  • Tumble dry on low heat or air dry: You can tumble dry polyester eco-silk on a low heat setting. Alternatively, air dry by laying the item flat or hanging it, but avoid direct sunlight to prevent any potential fading.
  • Ironing is rarely necessary: If you need to iron polyester eco-silk, do so on a low heat setting. However, this material often doesn't require ironing as it’s less prone to wrinkles than natural silk.
  • Fold or hang for storage: Store eco-silk garments either folded in a drawer or hung on a hanger. The fabric is resilient and less likely to crease or deform, making it easier to store than natural silk
